The 14th annual Salon du livre des Premières Nations

“While showcasing emerging authors remains central to our mission, this year we wanted to celebrate those who have paved the way, both artistically and socially,” says Louis-Karl Picard-Sioui, general director of the Salon du livre des Premières Nations.

The 14th annual Salon du livre des Premières Nations (First Nations Book Fair) will be from November 27 to 30. More than thirty Indigenous authors will be present, making the 2025 book fair the largest gathering of Indigenous authors in Québec. This year, the emphasis will be on the presence of several elder authors and the legacy being left for future generations.

This book fair will bring together several major figures and emerging voices in Indigenous literature, including Naomi Fontaine, Yves Sioui Durand, Michelle Good, Katherena Vermette, Marie-Andrée Gill, Virginia Pesemapeo Bordeleau, Isabelle Picard, Jessica Gagnon, Marie-Josée Bastien, Michel Jean, and many other artists who are shaping the literary landscape of First Nations.

The festival runs through November 30 in three main locations: the Maison de la littérature, the Morrin Centre, and the Salle Multi at Méduse. The city’s various libraries will also be offering activities for the whole family throughout the weekend, including art workshops with Amélie Courtois, Valérie Laforce, and Kaia’tanoraon Dumoulin Bush.

Two new activities for adults will also be presented at the Gabrielle-Roy library: a culinary talk with Lysanne O’Bomsawin and a masterclass with graphic novelist and film animator Diane O’Bomsawin.

The Salon du livre des Premières Nations is an initiative of Kwahiatonhk!, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development and promotion of Indigenous literature.

Library activities must be booked on the website of the Bibliothèque de Québec: https://www.bibliothequedequebec.qc.ca/.../salon-du-livre...
